Fueled by shutout outings from Cameron Nakano and Jack Pennington plus a bevy of hits, the Pirates made quick work of the Vikings on Friday night with a doubleheader sweep by 14-0 and 12-0 finals, both in five innings.
Nakano tossed a no-hitter and was a hit batter away from a perfect game in the opener. The southpaw recorded 13 strikeouts. He was supported early with a six-run top of the second that featured a two-run triple from Jacob Bright.
Adna added four more in the third and three in the fifth. Cash Smith finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored while Nakano and Pennington each notched two hits.
In Game 2, the Pirates (9-0, 9-0 C2BL) were the designated home team and jumped on Mossyrock with another six-run frame. They piled on three in the second, two in the third and one final run in the fourth.
Aidan Percival, Pennington and Bright all recorded multiple hits, drove in at least two runs and crossed home plate a combined seven times. Pennington struck out 10 in four innings and allowed just two walks.
The Vikings (0-8, 0-8) had their lone hit come from Gunner Ball. They will host Napavine on April 15 while Adna battles PWV in a non-league contest on April 13.
