A 16-run outburst in the bottom of the third turned a close league game into a blowout for the Pirates, dispatching of the Loggers 23-1 in five innings on Saturday morning at home.
Adna (13-0, 12-0 C2BL) has scored double digit runs in its last two games. The third inning started with Ty Bodenhamer reaching on an error and it snowballed from there. Danner Hoinowski had two singles that drove in three runs and Bryce Pine roped a double and a single that scored two runs.
In total, the Pirates batted around the lineup twice and registered 10 hits in the frame. Hoinowski finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs while Pine, Owen Fagerness, and Cash Smith recorded two hits apiece. Beau Miller struck out seven in five innings on the mound.
Onalaska (5-7, 5-5) avoided the shutout with an RBI fielder’s choice by Broden Vickers in the top of the fifth. The Loggers face rival Mossyrock on Monday to kick off a two-game set while Adna faces District 4 foes Ilwaco and PWV over the next two games.
