The Adna and Rainier baseball teams played a doubleheader on Tuesday, and the Pirates took home a pair of victories by defeating the Mountaineers 12-0 and 12-1 in five innings apiece.
Brody Richards pitched five shutout innings in Game 1, and the offense didn’t wait to give him plenty of run support.
The Pirates took the lead with five in the bottom of the first, and they added seven more across the next two innings to push the game into run-rule territory.
Bryce Pine went 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and four runs batted in, while Ty Bodenhamer collected a hit in his only official at-bat and drove in three.
The runs didn’t come as quickly in Game 2, as the Pirates held a slim 2-1 lead after three. They poured it on in the fourth and fifth, though, scoring 10 runs in those two innings to break the game open.
Danner Hoinowski went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with two-extra base hits, and he drove in five. Owen Fagerness and Preston Trodahl both drove in two.
Cameron Nakano allowed just one unearned run and struck out eight in five innings of work on the mound.
Rainier (1-4, 1-4 C2BL) will head to Toutle Lake on Thursday, while Adna (5-0, 5-0 C2BL) will be back at home on Friday to host Winlock.
