After playing its first three league games of the year, the Adna girls basketball team played another tough non-league opponent on Saturday, defeating 3A Auburn Mountainview 58-42.
The Pirates led by six after one, and they were able to push their lead to double digits after a quieter second quarter.
The offense as a whole was much better in the second half, as the Pirates scored 36 points over the final two frames.
Gaby Guard led the way, hitting four threes and finished with a game-high 20 points. She also logged five rebounds and three steals.
“Gaby did a nice job knocking down shots when defenders helped off of her,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said.
McKenna Torrey added 12 points, Kendall Humphrey added eight points, four rebounds, and three steals, and Ava Humphrey tallied six points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Bailey Chapman had a nice all-around afternoon, tallying six points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
“It was good to see our bench pick us up today after a long week,” Bannish said.
Adna (13-1, 3-0 C2BL) will be at home again on Tuesday to host Toutle Lake.
