For the third year in a row, the Adna girls basketball team is through to the district semifinals.
The Pirates clinched their berth on Tuesday in Castle Rock, where they defeated Toutle Lake 48-29.
It was a tight game throughout the first half, as it was tied after 11 and Adna led just 20-15 at the break.
It was all Pirates in the third, though, as they outscored the Ducks 18-6 to extend their lead to 17.
“Our third quarter was really good,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said. “We finally got the pace in our favor.”
Bailey Chapman played a big role inside, scoring 10 points and posting 13 rebounds for a double-double, and she also blocked five shots.
“She did a great job of contesting shots in the paint,” Bannish said.
Karsyn Freeman scored 20 points and added seven rebounds and four steals, and Danika Hallom added 12 points. Kamryn Freeman, Alyssa Carroll, and McKenna Torrey scored two apiece, and Torrey also had six rebounds and three steals.
The win sets up a matchup against Napavine, which won its quarterfinal against Forks on Tuesday in Rochester.
The two teams will meet at Kelso High School next Tuesday, Feb. 18. The winner will receive a state tournament berth and a spot in the district title game.
