Bail is set at $100,000 for an Olympia man accused of breaking into an elderly man’s home in Centralia on Saturday in violation of a no-contact order protecting the man’s live-in caregiver.
The man’s children reportedly went to check on their father at his Centralia home at about 5:07 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, and found a man they didn’t recognize inside the residence, according to charging documents filed in Lewis County Superior Court.
The man reportedly identified himself as Austin Michael Jones, 26, of Olympia, before running out of the house and fleeing the property.
Law enforcement personnel responded to the property and confirmed that there is an active no-contact order prohibiting Jones from having any contact with the homeowner’s live-in caretaker and from going within 1,000 feet of her residence, according to court documents.
Jones has two seperate convictions out of Olympia Municipal Court for violating orders in favor of the same victim, and has two pending charges out of Lewis County Superior Court for allegedly violating the same order, according to court documents.
Lewis County Jail records indicate he was arrested and booked into the jail at 6:58 p.m. on May 24.
He was charged Tuesday, May 27, in Lewis County Superior Court with one count each of violation of a court order, domestic violence, and residential burglary, domestic violence.
The prosecution requested that Jone’s bail be set at $50,000 on Tuesday due to his protection order violation history, but due to the fact that the alleged incident occurred two days after Jones graduated from a court-ordered mental health treatment program, Yeager opted to set Jones’ bail at $100,000.
Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, May 29.
