Bail is set at $50,000 for a Centralia man accused of forcing his way into a neighbor’s apartment on Friday and assaulting a man.

Officers with the Centralia Police Department responded to the burglary in the 500 block of North Rock Street at approximately 9:10 p.m. on July 12, according to police call logs. The reporting party told dispatchers that Keith Hill, 41, was attacking his neighbor, according to court documents.
When officers arrived, Hill was reportedly in the hallway of the apartment complex and asked officers to detain him.

“Hill had a distant stare in his eyes and was making unusual comments,” according to court documents.

Witnesses reported seeing Hill knock on a neighbor’s door and, when the neighbor opened the door, Hill allegedly pushed the neighbor inside and began to assault him.

The victim reported Hill pushed him to the ground and continued to try and attack him, but the victim “used his feet and legs to keep Hill off of him,” according to court documents.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his right elbow, forearm and his right knee during the incident.

Officers reportedly tried to talk to Hill, “However, he had difficulty maintaining a coherent train of thought,” according to court documents. Hill reportedly said he was on medication for mental health issues “but was unable to say what medication was taken or what he had been diagnosed with.”

Lewis County Jail records indicate he was booked for first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault at 9:30 p.m. on July 12. He was formally charged on Monday, July 15.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, July 18.

An anti-harassment order protecting the victim is in place.
