Bail is set at $50,000 for a man arrested on Saturday with 70 to 80 doses of fentanyl, worth up to $1,600.

Dustin Ray McLaughlin, 36, of Castle Rock, was arrested following a Centralia Police Department investigation into a stolen license plate, according to court documents and police call logs.

Officers received an alert from the Flock Safety camera system regarding the stolen license plate near Harrison Avenue in Centralia, according to court documents.

A Centralia police officer located the vehicle it was affixed to in a parking lot in the 100 block of West High Street just after 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 20.  McLaughlin was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to court documents.

The investigation reportedly revealed probable cause to arrest McLaughlin for third-degree possession of stolen property. Officers reportedly saw drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and obtained a warrant to search it.

During the search, officers found a video game case containing a rubber puck holding a “large rock of suspected fentanyl," according to court documents. The rock weighed about 7 grams.

Also located were pill bottles containing 15 to 25 suboxone strips, a digital scale with drug residue on it and $231 cash that had drug residue on it.

He also allegedly had someone else’s EBT card in his wallet, according to court documents.

McLaughlin was booked into the Lewis County Jail at 7:55 p.m. on Dec. 20. He was charged Dec. 22 with one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture or deliver, as well as one count each of second- and third-degree possession of stolen property.

Arraignment was scheduled for Dec. 24.
