Centralia rallied late in Chehalis on Tuesday, but W.F. West was able to hold off the Tigers and take the first game of a three-game set 10-7.
It was all W.F. West early, as the Bearcats built a 6-0 lead through four, but Centralia responded with five runs in the top of the fifth to make it a one-run game.
W.F. West answered right back with three more and added an insurance run in the sixth to go up 10-5, and it got the first out of the seventh without an issue.
The next three Tigers reached base, though, bringing home a run, and after Kadin Yeung drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 10-7 later in the inning, the Tigers had the tying run on base.
Wyatt Hoffman came in and shut the door, though, getting a strikeout to end the Centralia rally and the game.
Reece Marquez, Miles Martin, and Hiro Smaciarz finished with two hits each to lead the W.F. West offense, while Hoffman and Alex Stafford drove in two runs apiece. Smaciarz, Connor Coleman, Martin, Luke McMillan, and Marquez tallied an RBI each.
Jake Johnson picked up three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs to pace the Centralia offense, and Hudson Waterfield added a hit and drove in two runs. Yeung and Shawn Holmes went 1 for 1 with an RBI, and he also drew a walk.
Centralia (0-6, 0-2 2A EvCo) and W.F. West (5-1, 2-0 2A EvCo) are set to face off again on Wednesday in Centralia.
