W.F. West ran its win streak to five games as the Bearcats rolled through Black Hills for a 35-0 road victory in 2A Evergreen Conference play to close out the regular season Thursday.

Cameron Amoroso and Gavin Fugate each scored two touchdowns to pace the Bearcats’ offense. Amoroso led all pass catcher with four catches for 57 yards. Fugate was 10 for 14 passing for 100 yards and a 21-yard TD strike to Amoroso. Fugate also added 30 yards on the ground and another score.

The Bearcats’ defense scored two TDs of their own, first a 90-yard fumble return by Blake Ely, followed by Cristo Parriott’s 40-yard interception return to the house. Gage Brumfield closed out the scoring with a 19-yard TD pass to Amoroso.

W.F. West outgained Black Hills 279 to 199 in total yardage.

“We keep getting better and better each week and we’re building confidence,” W.F. West coach Dan Hill said.

W.F. West improves to 7-2 overall and is the 2A Evergreen Conference’s No. 2 seed heading into the 2A District 4 playoffs. The Bearcats will host the 2A Greater St. Helens League’s No. 3 seed, Mark Morris.

Hill said the Monarchs like to run sprint-outs and boot actions on offense, using wishbone, three-back and single-back sets. On defense, they run an even-front 4-3.

That matchup is set for 7 p.m., Friday, in Chehalis, with the winner advancing to the 16-team state tournament.
