The Tenino girls soccer team dropped its first 1A Evergreen match of the fall Tuesday, losing 4-0 to defending champs Montesano.
“We showed that we could hang with them, and the girls know that too,” Tenino coach Dave Montgomery said. “We don’t love the result, obviously, but we’re super proud of the effort.”
Reigning league MVP Mikayla Stanfield scored a hat trick for the Bulldogs. Her first goal came in the first half, and the Bulldogs added three to their lead in the second.
In net for the Beavers (5-3-1, 0-1-0 1A Evergreen), Dakota Lees made 10 saves.
“This was most definitely her best game, which was super exciting to see,” Montgomery said.
Tenino will get back to the pitch Thursday, against defending district champs Elma.
