Getting its second straight home win, the Tenino baseball team defeated Rainier Saturday afternoon, 11-0, in five inning fashion.
The Beavers blitzed the Mountaineers for 10 runs in the first two innings, and added another for good measure in the third to round out all scoring, all while Jack Burkhardt controlled the game from the mound.
Burkhardt threw four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, walking just two, and striking out nine. Easton Snider relieved the starter in the final inning and struck out all three to finish a dominant day of pitching for Tenino.
“We played clean today,” Beavs coach Ryan Schlesser said. “Jack threw a lot of strikes and pitched really well for us.”
At the plate, Kellan Knox went 2 for 2 with three runs scored, three RBIs, and a home run blast. Austin Gonia also was perfect at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Will Feltus added a run scored off a walk, and an RBI at leadoff.
The Mountaineers lone hit came from Hunter Howell.
Rainier will hope to bounce back against Kalama on Monday while Tenino takes on Trico opponent Castle Rock on tuesday at 4 p.m.
