Beaverton police identified the 14-year-old killed in a car crash on Wednesday as Jacob Tran.
The Beaverton Police Department said the crash happened as Tran, who was wearing a helmet, rode an electric scooter through a crosswalk at Southwest Scholls Ferry Road near Loon Drive around 6 a.m.
Tran was in critical condition at a local hospital following the crash, police said, and he later died from his injuries.
Tran was on his way to a football workout at Mountainside High School, where he would have been a freshman in the fall, police said.
Tran was “full of joy and life and lost his life way too soon,” a GoFundMe page for his family reads.
The driver, a 16-year-old male, was unharmed and cooperated with police, the department said.
Police encourage anyone with information about the crash to contact the department tip line at 503-526-2261.
