Big Ten Network confirms Oregon, Washington football games will be blacked out on Comcast/Xfinity

Posted

Fans of the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies will not be able to watch their football teams on the Big Ten Network through Comcast/Xfinity this weekend, with some exceptions.

According to a source with Comcast/Xfinity, customers residing in one of the 14 existing Big Ten markets — which excludes new conference members Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA — will be able to watch the Ducks take on Idaho at 4:30 p.m. PT, and Washington host Weber State at 8 p.m.

However, those in the four new Big Ten markets — and everywhere else Comcast serves that doesn’t already have a Big Ten team — will have the game blacked out due to the ongoing carriage dispute. Yes, that includes Eugene, Portland and Seattle.

Football isn’t the only sport impacted by the blackout, either. Duck fans looking to tune in to Big Ten Network for No. 10 Oregon volleyball’s season opener vs. No. 4 Pittsburgh on Friday night will also not be able to watch the game on Comcast/Xfinity, unless they’re in one of the 14 existing Big Ten markets.

Representatives from the Big Ten Network and Comcast/Xfinity did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment from The Oregonian/OregonLive on Friday morning.

The now-defunct Pac-12 Network revived its account on Twitter/X to provide a tongue-in-cheek response to the news.
