Fueled by clutch hits and shutdown pitching, the Wolves won for the first time this month with a 3-1 victory over the Bobcats on Wednesday night at home.
The three runs scored equals the total from the previous four games combined. Around 24 hours ago, Black Hills struggled to slow down Aberdeen’s offense and succumbed to three defensive miscues. It was a different story in Tumwater.
Tied at one heading to the bottom of the fifth and after a walk and single, Alec Lynch laid down a bunt that resulted in an infield error that plated the two go-ahead runs for the Wolves. Willy Kytta allowed one baserunner over the last two innings to maintain the win.
Black Hills took a slim 1-0 lead in the first. After Truman Wimsett laced a leadoff double, he scored on a groundout and error. The outfielder also swiped two bases and Wolves starter Orion Pate struck out six in over four innings on the mound.
