The Wolves never found an offensive rhythm on Saturday afternoon and ended up on the wrong end of the scoreboard, falling to the Beavers 3-0 in a Class 2A District 4 quarterfinal contest on their home field.
“It was more our quality of play and not up to our standards,” Black Hills head coach Jordan Owen said. “The second half was a little bit closer to how we (normally) play.”
Woodland, the GSHL’s third best team this season, tallied two goals in the first half and added another in the final 40 minutes. The Wolves (9-5-3) now will face Tumwater in an elimination game on Wednesday night.
The two regular season meetings were polar opposite. Black Hills won the first matchup 3-1, then Tumwater battled back to draw 0-0 the second time around.
“It is written in the stars. That is pretty high stakes,” Owen said. “No matter what, it will be super exciting. Wednesday should be electric, it will be fun.”

The T-Birds fell to Columbia River 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in a Class 2A District 4 quarterfinal match in Vancouver. Tumwater (6-9-4) will now face arch rival Black Hills in an elimination game on Wednesday night.
In the two regular season meetings, the Thunderbirds lost 3-1 and then drew 0-0.
