Black Hills girls claim victory at Stan Hedwall Park

The Black Hills girls cross country team came away with a win in a three-team meet on Wednesday, as the Wolves topped Aberdeen and W.F. West at Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis.

The course that the teams ran on is a slower one, but Maddie Knight (23:44.87), Makenna Legault (24:48.46), and Averie Reynolds (24:53.56) were able to grab second, third, and fourth to lead the Wolves.

Adeline Rice (26:49.90) and Jane Birchard (26:58.14) were also able to finish in the top-10, placing seventh and eighth, respectively.

As a team, Black Hills finished with just 24 points, 21 fewer than second-place Aberdeen and 37 fewer than third-place W.F. West.



Mercedes Ricks led the Bearcats with a time of 25:01.02 and a fifth-place finish, while Loren Kattenbraker placed ninth with a time of 27:37.91.

On the boys side, Aberdeen came away with the victory with 21 points, but W.F. West was able to take second with 46.

Ezra Birchard was the top W.F. West finisher, as he took third in 19:14.60. David Moeckel (20:11.94) and Adam Butterfield (21:22.71) also finished in the top 10 at eighth and tenth. Connor Clary (21:37.67) and Rowan Clary (21:38.12) finished back-to-back at 12th and 13th.

Seth Thomasson was Black Hills’ best runner on the boys side, taking fourth in 19:32.43.
