Black Hills keeps rolling, beats Shelton

The Black Hills girls basketball team matched its win total from last season in just its sixth game of the winter, downing Shelton 62-34 on Tuesday at home.

The Wolves (6-0, 2-0 2A EvCo) stayed undefeated with their sixth win of the year, and are just one league win removed from their total last year, after going 3-9 in 2A EvCo action in 2022-23.

Kiley McMahon and Tyler Venable both had 18 points to share the team lead for Black Hills; Venable also logged five steals and five rebounds.

Claire Johnson posted 10 rebounds to lead the Wolves on the glass.

Black Hills held Shelton to just five points in the first quarter and seven in the fourth, pushing the lead out to double figures early and past 20 by the third quarter.

The Wolves will get a whole other sort of test Thursday when it hosts W.F. West.
