Black Hills tops Timberline to win Flag Football Tournament

The Black Hills and Tumwater girls flag football teams competed in a “mini-season” over the past week, and on Tuesday, the Wolves topped Timberline 42-7 in the championship game to win the final tournament.

Ella Jarvin opened the scoring with a receiving touchdown, and a Ciara Nichols interception led to a Lilly Worthen touchdown to put Black Hills at 14.

The Wolves added on in a hurry in the second half. A Marlie Voorhies pick-six was followed up with touchdowns from Eva Parker and Caitlin Roberts, and an Izzy Steinebach pick led to a TD from Hailey Tinsley.

The Wolves went 3-0 to clinch a spot in the title game. Pool play began on May 28, when Black Hills beat Kelso 32-0 and River Ridge 28-7. That put them into the semi finals on May 30, where they defeated North Thurston 32-0.

The Kelso and North Thurston wins were both by the mercy rule, and there were nearly 12 minutes left in the North Thurston game when it was called.

Ella Jarmin was named the Most Valuable Player of the Championship Game.

Tumwater went 0-2 on Day 1 and lost to River Ridge in OT in the first round of the tournament, but the T-Birds bounced back in their final game, defeating Kelso 42-23 to place fifth.
