Blazers Get Busy Downtown to Take Out Pierce

The Trailblazers knocked down a dozen three-pointers here at Michael Smith Gymnasium on Saturday on their way to a 76-61 victory over Pierce College in NWAC West Conference men’s basketball action.

Centralia shot 48 percent from the field in the win, including a 12 of 25 mark from downtown. Jerry Boston knocked down 3 of 6 shots from beyond the arc and led the Blazers with 19 points. Taylor Peppinger connected on 5 of 9 long range attempts and finished with 15 points.

Centralia jumped out to a 40-23 lead at the intermission and bested the Raiders 35 to 27 on the boards.

Kobe Matsen and Tyler Ashmore each snagged nine rebounds for the Blazers. Matsen added a dozen points while Ashmore chipped in ten. L’Marcus Walker added ten points, eight rebounds and a team-high eight assists.

Centralia (9-14, 4-5 league) will play at Tacoma on Wednesday.



Blazers Stay Hot with Win Over Pierce

Centralia College stayed undefeated in NWAC West Conference play when they bested Pierce 73-50 here at Michael Smith Gymnasium on Saturday.

Piper Cai led the Blazers with 15 points on 15 shots. She padded that offensive output with six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Lindsey Nurmi added 13 points, six assists and six steals in the win.

Centralia ran out to a ten point lead after the first quarter and led 41-21 by the intermission. The Blazers shot 43 percent from the field while holding the Raiders to a 37 percent clip.

Selena Cudney grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, with eight points, four assists, four steals, and two blocks for good measure. Caitlin Yenne chipped in a dozen points and seven assists in the win.

Centralia (16-7, 9-0 league) will play at Tacoma on Wednesday.
