In its final non-conference series of the season, the Centralia College baseball team split its matchups against Chemeketa, 9-2 and 2-0 Tuesday afternoon at its home sports complex.

The Trailblazers dropped their first game, 9-2, after trailing 2-1 for most of the way. The Storm put together a four-run seventh and three-run ninth to pull away.

Centralia was led by Tony Groninger’s 2 for 4 performance and River Terry’s 1 for 3 performance with a walk and a run scored, having hard time knocking in runs.

In the second game, the Blazers fired back to win in seven innings, 2-0. Lefty Ryan Henrickson got the start on the bump and threw four innings, giving up just two hits with five strikeouts. From there, Camdyn Martindale stepped in out of the pen to pitch another two shutout innings, giving up just one hit, and Remington O’Keefe earned the save after a scoreless seventh inning.

At the dish the Blazers did just enough to win, tallying four hits as a group, with Casen Taggart going 1 for 2 with a walk, a run scored, and a double.

Centralia (14-8) will now get into the meat of its conference schedule, opening up with a home doubleheader on Saturday against Pierce at 1 and 4 p.m.
