Centralia College softball kicked off a home doubleheader with Chemeketa Friday with a walk-off win in Game 1, then a run-rule loss in five innings in game two to split the twinbill.

In Game 1, Trailblazer right fielder Casey Wentz smacked a walk-off double in the seventh inning to give the Blazers a 4-3 victory.

Wentz was 3 for 4 at the plate with one run and two RBIs. Center fielder Kylie Baker went 2 for 3 with three runs and a walk and shortstop Sydney Yates batted 2 for 3 with an RBI. The trio combined for all seven of the Blazers’ hits in the game.

Paige Bryant threw all seven innings for the Blazers, striking out four and allowing three earned runs on seven hits.

In Game 2, the Blazers struggled to find hits offensively and were unable to stem Chemeketa’s firepower in a 13-3 loss in five innings.

Yates (1 for 2), Bryant (1 for 2) and Adna alum Emma Eko (1 for 2) each collected one hit and drove in one run, while Wentz (1 for 3) had the Blazers’ only other hit in the game.

Rochester alum Kiyah Kennedy started on the mound, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings. Bryant pitched the final 2.2 innings, striking out one and allowing five earned runs on seven hits.

The Blazers hosted Southwest Oregon Community College at noon and 2 p.m. at Recreation Park in Chehalis.
