The Centralia College women’s basketball team earned its second win in a row to open the 2024 part of its slate Saturday, beating South Puget Sound 68-59.

“Overall, it was a really good effort from our players,” first-year CC coach Tiffany Twiddy said.

Nine different Trailblazers got in on the scoring for CC, led by Madison Gore’s 20 points. The freshman out of Aberdeen also had four steals on defense.

Maya Barnett scored 16 points and also logged a team-high 11 rebounds, while Foai Pula had 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The Blazers went on a 15-0 run over the final five minutes of the first quarter to lead 23-7 at the first break, and got their lead up to 21 points early in the fourth quarter, before SPS rallied to cut things back to a more respectable margin.

CC will host its first home game in a month on Wednesday, when Highline comes to town.
