In celebration of Easter, travelers along Boistfort Road in Curtis will soon see a diorama depicting the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the front lawn at the Boistfort Community Church, 1069 Boistfort Road, Curtis.

“The cross and empty tomb signify the Easter message of hope for all the world,” Pastor Lee Maxey stated in a news release provided to The Chronicle. “We want to bring awareness to those who pass by our church that Easter is so much more than colored eggs, bunnies and bonnets.”

The display was designed, constructed and painted by volunteers at the church and is intended to draw hearts and minds to the events of Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday, March 29, and extends through Easter on April 5, the release stated.

“We hope to expand in future years with more elements depicting what we know as the greatest story ever told,” Lee said, “but, for now, we think we’re off to a great start. We invite all those who see the display out front to join us for a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3, and our Easter service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.”
