The Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County has announced it is offering a summer art series at its new space at the United Learning Center in Centralia.
The Boys and Girls Club Summer Art Series will include seven sessions providing a wide variety of opportunities for youths to develop skills in various sectors of the visual and language arts, according to a news release from the club.
Each workshop will run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All workshops are aligned with Boys and Girls Clubs ethos and are taught by Washington-certified educators specializing in the visual arts. This summer art series program is developed and coordinated by Dandelion Creative Space.
The weekly schedule is as follows:
• Zine making (A mixed media approach), June 22, 24 and 26, taught by Jennifer Kinsman
• Poetry (spoken art), July 6, 8 and 10, taught by Susan Clark
• Acrylic painting, July 13, 15 and 17, taught by Liza Brenner
• Illustrative art with dry media, July 20, 22 and 24, taught by Clark
• AirDry clay selfies, Aug. 3, 5 and 7, taught by Kinsman
• Drawing big, Aug. 10, 12 and 14, taught by Kinsman
• Print making Aug. 17, 19 and 21, taught by Kinsman
At the end of the seven-week program, the Boys and Girls Club is partnering with the Centralia Downtown Association and local downtown businesses to offer an end of the Summer Youth Art Walk, the news release stated. All artists in the summer art series will have the option to participate in the youth art walk program.
Participants can sign up for one or all of the classes, which are open to the public. Families not currently part of the Boys and Girls Club will need to create an account to register.
The registration fee is $40 per three-day workshop. The recommended age range is 8 to 16 years old.
