BPA Failure Causes Power Outage For Tens of Thousands in Lewis County Monday Night

Posted

On Monday night at about 11 p.m., over 29,745 businesses and residences in West Lewis County lost power.

A transmission line from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) faltered, affecting over 19,000 Lewis County Public Utility District (PUD) customers and 10,745 customers of Centralia City Light, which is the utility’s entire system, according to a spokesperson.

Power was restored to the affected customers at about 1 a.m. Tuesday in Centralia.

PUD General Manager David Plotz said, “Once BPA was able to address the fault, PUD operations teams were able to restore power to remaining customers by 3:30 a.m.” Tuesday morning.

“Other power outages through the evening are still being addressed into this morning and we appreciate our customers' patience and support,” Plotz said.
