C2BL Baseball Outlook: Adna, Napavine, Toledo headline league teams seeking Final Four breakthrough

Posted

Adna, Napavine, and Toledo each made the state tournament last season, and each lost on the road on Day 1. Napavine and Toledo both bowed out in the Round of 16, and Adna fell in the quarterfinals to Asotin after winning its first-round matchup.

All three teams are back in the fold this spring, and a trip to Ephrata is on the forefront of their minds.

The Adna Pirates have been most recently, taking second in 2023 and fourth in 2024, and they will need to fill the void left by 2025 C2BL MVP Danner Hoinowski and fellow 2025 graduates Owen Fagernes, Luke Mohney, Ty Bodenhamer, and Mat Roundtree.

Beau Miller, a first-team all-leaguer last year, and Cameron Nakano and Cash Smith, two second-teamers, are all back in the mix in 2026, as is Jack Pennington, an honorable mention a year ago.

Elijah Sliva has shown early flashes both on the mound and at the plate, and Barron Luond, Naillon Ramirez, and Brody Richards have also had good starts at the dish.

Napavine finished second in league play last year and took third at districts, and the Tigers bring back all but Jack Nelson, their senior slugger from last year’s group.

Cal Bullock is coming off a strong season where he shined on both the mound (8-3, 2.15 ERA) and the plate, (.341 average, 26 runs batted in), and he is expected to be an MVP candidate.

Beckett Landram is also looking to build off a strong offensive season (.432 batting average, 14 extra-base hits, 27 RBIs), and Hudson Chambers (5-2, 1.92 ERA, 36 strikeouts) and Layton Griffith (4-2, 2.19 ERA, 67 strikeouts) give the Tigers some nice depth in the rotation.

Toledo also should bolster a deep rotation, and the Riverhawks will also pose a threat from one to nine with a potent lineup.

Rohan Feigenbaum was an all-state selection in 2025, and he broke several Toledo records (14 doubles, 37 runs, 32 stolen bases) while slashing .459/.539/.624. Eli Weeks hit .338 and drove in 29 runs, and he’ll be making the move behind the plate defensively after spending last season at the hot corner.

Nico Acosta was a second-team all-league player after hitting .328 and posting a 3.80 ERA on the bump, and Brady Weeks was also a second-team honoree after hitting .342 as a freshman.

Mossyrock finished fifth in the C2BL last season and bowed out in the first round of districts, and the Vikings lost three seniors from last year’s group, including Easton Kolb, a first-team all-leaguer.

Gunnar Callies returns as the team’s center fielder, Austin Isom is back and should slot in at first defensively, and Waylen Huguenin, Van Kost, and Kevin Mitchell return expecting to see time in the infield and on the mound.

Kyle Brockway is making the switch from track to baseball, and freshman Atrayewe Brown will assume the catching role. Gunner Ball will “rover around,” and both Jorge Hernandez and Jaciel Hernandez will play in the outfield.

With just 10 kids entering the season, each Viking will get plenty of reps, and growth from a few could spark a potential postseason run come May.

Yazama Gurnsey and Peyton Sheaffer return to lead Rainier, which won its first district tournament game last May before losing its next two.

Both Gurnsey (.457 BA) and Sheaffer (.369 BA, 4-1 pitching record) were first-team kids in 2025, and both Kadden Goodman and Wyatt Cughan are back after earning an honorable mention a year ago.

Sophomore Blake Fellen will see time both on the mound and behind the plate, and Wyatt McIntyre is lined up to settle in at shortstop, but he could see time all over the diamond.

After going winless in 2024, Onalaska took a step forward in 2025, reaching the district tournament by finishing seventh in the C2BL standings.

The Loggers did lose six seniors, but they bring back Maddox McKinley, who hit .328 and posted an on-base percentage of .426 last season, Rowdy Lyons, who hit .318 and reached base at a clip of .492, and Broden Vickers, who hit .377 and had an OBP of .492.

Winlock also took a step forward in 2025, reaching its first district tournament since 1991 and picking up a win over North Beach for a postseason victory.

The Cardinals bring everyone back, including Kyrin Meehan, the star of the playoff win, and Carter Svenson, an honorable mention last spring.

Morton-White Pass will look to follow Onalaska’s 2025 blueprint, as the Timberwolves didn’t win a game last season.

They’ll be led by freshman Liam Pelletier, who is looking to take another step forward after earning a second-team spot as an eighth-grader.

Peyton Shields should eat some innings on the mound, and Brayden Fleetwood will be in a leadership role as the team’s lone senior. Jake Flathers and Jethro Haselwood are both back on the diamond and should see time on the bump.
