The Winlock volleyball team got back in the win column on Monday, sweeping Chief Leschi 25-11, 25-18, 25-18 to snap a four-game losing streak.

It was senior night in Winlock (7-6, 1-4 C2BL), and the seniors played a big part in the win.

Kindyl Kelly led the way offensively with 12 kills and five aces, while Madison Rohman had eight kills and had five aces of her own. Charlee Connelly led the way defensively with 15 digs, while Grace Cotton had two kills and was helping out defensively throughout. Connelly also had three aces.

“It was a great senior night,” Winlock coach Terri Dalsted said. “We had an awesome time with all of our fans.”

Since starting the season 4-0, the Cardinals had struggled heading into Monday’s game, losing six of eight.

Dalsted was impressed with the team’s performance on Monday, however, saying it could be the blueprint for success throughout the back end of the season.

“We felt good about tonight,” Dalsted said. “We’re kind of finding our new chemistry with a couple of new players, and we were able to do that tonight.”

They’ll get a chance to improve on that chemistry tomorrow, though it will be a tough test, as they’ll welcome Toutle Lake.
