The Centralia College softball team’s season came to an end on Thursday at Delta Park in Portland, where the No. 11 Trailblazers lost to No. 6 Walla Walla 13-9 in the Round of 12 in the Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Championship.

After falling behind 1-0 in the second, Sara Haury, Makayla Chavez, and Gracie Schofield drove in four runs to give CC a 4-1 lead in the third.

Walla Walla responded with a big inning of its own, though, scoring seven runs in the bottom half to retake the lead.

Michaela Dueck and Haury cut into the lead by driving in two runs in the fourth, but the Warriors kept adding on by scoring five runs across the fourth and fifth to lead 13-6.

The Trailblazers put together a rally in the ninth, scoring three runs on a Macey Fluetsch sacrifice fly and back-to-back RBI single from Sheridan Hammons and Dueck, but the potential tying run never made it further than the on-deck circle.

Haury, Schofield, and Dueck finished with two RBIs apiece, and Schofield, Fluetsch, and Hammons finished with two hits each. Hammons, Fluetsch, and Chavez finished with one RBI apiece.

The Trailblazers finish their season 22-21, and they made their second straight trip to the NWAC Softball Championship.
