Both of the Centralia College soccer teams took the field on Wednesday at Bob Peters Field, but the road teams left Centralia with wins.

Lower Columbia topped the women’s team 3-0 in the first game before South Puget Sound topped the men 2-1 in the back half of the doubleheader.

In the first match, the Red Devils got on the board within the first two minutes, and they added one before halftime to go into the break up 2-0. Another goal in the second half put the game away.

Brooklynn Alkire had a nice day in net for the Trailblazers, making 11 saves to keep them within striking distance.

With the loss, Centralia is now in fourth place in the NWAC West standings, one point behind Tacoma for the third and final playoff spot in the region with three games to play.

The men also faced an early deficit, as they trailed just three minutes into the game, but Owen Jacobs tied the game in the 39th minute on an unassisted goal.

The two sides continued to trade chances, but it was South Puget Sound that came away with the only goal of the second half to finish on top.

Neftali Arellano made nine saves in net for Centralia, and Rico Ewell also made a save.

The two teams will host another doubleheader on Saturday, as both of the Highline teams will be in town. The women’s game is set for noon while the men will follow at 2:15 p.m.
