The Centralia College women’s soccer team won its third game in a row on Wednesday, taking down Pierce 4-1 on the road.
Rubi Serrato opened the scoring in the 20th minute off an assist from Maylania Mikaele, but the Raiders tied the game with a goal just before the halftime whistle.
It wasn’t tied for long after half, as Serrato assisted a Mikaele goal in the 49th minute to give CC the lead back.
Allison Ingham and Racquel Davis added insurance later in the second half.
Now at 5-2 in NWAC play, the Trailblazers (9-2 overall) sit in second place in the NWAC West with 15 points, six behind Lower Columbia.
Four of CC’s final five regular season matches are at home, including a rematch against LCC on Oct. 16, which topped the Trailblazers when they first met in Longview on Sept. 28.
The four-game homestand will begin on Saturday against Clark.
Men’s soccer battles, but falls at Pierce
The Centralia College men’s soccer team started off strong at Pierce on Wednesday, scoring the first two goals of the game, but the Raiders stormed back in the second half to hand CC a 4-3 defeat.
Tristan Evans found the back of the net twice in the first half, and Centralia took the 2-0 lead into the break.
Pierce College got on the board in the 48th minute before taking the lead with back-to-back goals in the 61st and 62nd.
Evans completed the hat-trick with a game-tying goal in the 88th minute, but the Raiders were able to deal the final blow by scoring in stoppage time to complete the comeback.
It was a little chippy at times, as 19 fouls were called and seven yellow cards were handed out.
With six games to play, the Trailblazers (2-10-2, 2-6-1 NWAC) will have to string together multiple wins to get back in contention for a playoff spot in the NWAC West. They currently sit nine points back of third-place Tacoma.
That quest will begin with a five-game homestand, which is set to get underway on Saturday against Clark.
