Lizzie Johnson, a local musician and Centralia High School alumna, is organizing the second annual “Sayonara, Summer” live music-packed celebration at Tiger Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.

Gates for Tiger Stadium, at 2526 Mount Vista Road, Centralia, open for the event at 5 p.m. Attendance is open to the public at a “pay what you will” structure.

The fundraising goal is $10,000 with the hopes of restarting the Centralia High School’s jazz band program, Johnson said. Last year’s first rendition of the “Sayonara, Summer” event, she said, drew 100 people who ate tacos from El Amigo and heard live performances from three musicians.

This Sunday, attendees will have access to El Amigo tacos along with Mint City Coffee and Sofie’s Scoops gelato. Live music will be performed by seven acts: The Unoriginality of Man; Joe Finch; Johnson; Monty; So You and I; Maralis; and Bonzo, according to a news release.

Sunday’s festivities, Johnson said, give “locals a reason to stay in town and invest in their community on Labor Day weekend. The event champions local businesses and talent as we work together to benefit our community.”
