Seventh-grade students from Centralia Christian School recently visited the Washington state Capitol with Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Chehalis.
The students toured the Capitol, learned how ideas become laws and asked questions about civic responsibility, leadership and how their voices can shape their community. The visit offered a hands-on look at the legislative process and helped connect their studies with real-world decision-making, according to the news release from Abbarno.
Abbarno spent time speaking directly with the seventh graders, sharing what it means to serve in the Legislature and encouraging them to stay curious, engaged and involved as they grow into future leaders.
"Welcoming these Lions from the Centralia Christian School to the Capitol was very meaningful," said Abbarno, House Republican Caucus chair. "Seeing these seventh graders learn about government, ask great questions and experience the Capitol firsthand reminds me why civic education matters. I loved spending time with them and hope this visit inspires them to stay involved."
The Capitol visit provided students with a unique opportunity to see how state government works and reinforced the importance of active civic engagement.
