The Centralia Downtown Association is calling on community members to join in the 2025 Spring Cleanup on Saturday, May 4.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate in the community-wide event. From weeding and sweeping to trash pickup and beautification projects, there’s a task for everyone. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with two volunteer shifts available: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Participants can join one or both shifts.
This year’s cleanup includes a Centralia High School class competition, where students will decorate team buckets and compete for a $500 class donation. Volunteers can vote with raffle tickets based on pre-registration, time served and “going the extra mile,” according to a news release from the downtown association.
“Our downtown is the heart of Centralia, and it takes all of us to keep it thriving,” MacKenzie McGee, executive director of the Centralia Downtown Association, said. “Whether you’re a student, business owner or just love this town — this is a great way to give back and connect with your community.”
Volunteers can pre-register at www.downtowncentralia.org to sign up for a shift and support a high school class in the cleanup competition. A limited number of tools will be available thanks to the Master Recycler Composters Tool Bucket Library, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves, brooms, rakes or other cleanup tools if they have them.
Check-in will take place at Pine Street Plaza.
