The Centralia Downtown Association (CDA) is inviting community members of all ages to take part in the annual Spring Clean Up on Sunday, May 3, with volunteer shifts beginning at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Pine Street Plaza.
This community-wide effort brings together students, residents, businesses and partners to refresh downtown Centralia ahead of the spring and summer season. Volunteers will help with sidewalk sweeping, weed removal, litter pick up and general beautification throughout the downtown core.
“This event is about showing up for your community in a tangible way,” said MacKenzie McGee, executive director of the Centralia Downtown Association, in a news release. “When people come together to care for a shared space, it creates pride, connection and a stronger sense of place.”
The Spring Clean Up continues to include a friendly student competition, alongside a new opportunity for broader community participation through a simple punch card system. Centralia High School students will compete for a $500 class fund prize, earning punches by pre-registering, attending a shift and bringing others along.
Community members can participate using the same punch card system, choosing to support a high school class or entering to win a Calypso Window Washing gift certificate.
Following the work, downtown sidewalks will be powerwashed on May 4 and May 5 to complete the refresh. Community members are encouraged to be mindful of temporary parking impacts during this time as crews work to clear debris and enhance the overall appearance of downtown, according to the release.
The Centralia Downtown Association extended a special thank you to CHOICE Regional Health Network, the presenting sponsor of this year’s Spring Clean Up, with additional thanks to Calypso Window Washing, whose contribution covers half the cost of power washing.
Community members are encouraged to register in advance.
