Centralia drops another close game against Shelton

The Centralia and Shelton baseball teams played another close contest on Tuesday, and like their first meeting, a late pair of Shelton runs proved to be the difference. The Tigers fell 5-3 to the Highclimbers, pushing their losing streak to 10 games.

The game was scoreless after two innings until Centralia struck first in the third with a run on a passed ball in the third.

Shelton plated three runs over the next two innings to take a 3-1 lead, but the Tigers scored two runs on an error in the fifth to tie the game. Shelton ultimately added two more in the bottom of the sixth and set the Tigers down 1-2-3 in the seventh to earn the win.

Kadin Yeung ended up being charged with a loss on the hill, but not after an impressive five and a third where he allowed three hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out four.

Kellen Rooklidge logged two of Centralia’s three hits, and Jake Johnson got the other.

Centralia (0-10, 0-4 2A EvCo) will return home to host Shelton in the final game of the two teams’ three-game set on Wednesday.
