Centralia High School powerlifting team takes home medals at Wolverine Classic Powerlifting Meet

The Centralia High School powerlifting team competed at the Wolverine Classic Powerlifting Meet in Olympia on Saturday, Feb. 8, and brought home a handful of first-, second- and third-place wins.  

“We had 11 of our athletes participate and we achieved greatness,” Centralia High School said in a social media post. “Many of our lifters, this is (their) first time competing. We are so proud of their effort and willingness to try something new!” 

The district thanked powerlifting coaches Doug Ashmore and Rose Waterfield for their efforts. 

Athletes who took home awards Feb. 8 were: 

  • Olivia Friedley: first-place, girls
  • Michelle Fadness: first-place, girls
  • Maddie Ahern: second-place, girls
  • Sydney Styger: second-place, girls
  • Kaeleigh Swarthout: fifth-place, girls
  • Jullian Crenshaw: first-place and overall boys champion
  • Sergio Sanches: first place, boys 
  • Caiden Tukes-Parke: third-place, boys 
  • Jake Johnson: fifth-place, boys 
  • Colton Crow: sixth-place, boys
  • Carson Johnson: 12th place, boys
