Centralia Lodging Tax Advisory Committee accepting applications for 2025 grants after none granted the past two years

Following the purchase and closure of multiple hotels within Centralia beginning in 2022, the city’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) was unable to accept grant applications for lodging tax funds in 2023 or 2024 due to the loss of tax revenue generated by the hotels.

Centralia Finance Director Bret Brodersen announced at the Centralia City Council meeting Tuesday, Aug. 13, that there will be LTAC funds available next year.

“I am pleased to announce that I project for the 2025 calendar year that we are going to be able to award lodging tax grants,” Brodersen said.

He told the council he anticipated having proposals by October and would most likely be back before them with the proposals the LTAC approved for final council approval by November.

The deadline to apply for a Centralia LTAC grant is Monday, Sept. 16, at 3:30 p.m.

According to a City of Centralia news release, the city is particularly interested in those looking to fund projects that will increase the amount of visitors staying overnight within Centralia.

Those eligible to apply for LTAC grants include nonprofits, government entities or other tax-exempt organizations in Centralia looking to fund various tourism-related activities or events.

Applications can be picked up at Centralia City Hall — located at 118 W. Maple St. — from the City Clerk’s Office on the second floor, by calling 360-330-7670 or by visiting the city’s website at https://cityofcentralia.com/490/HotelMotel-Lodging-Tax-Grants
