A Centralia man accused of stabbing someone with a butter knife, threatening to kill witnesses who talked to police and headbutting an officer early Saturday morning was charged Monday in Lewis County Superior Court.

Trenton Noel Toms, 21, reportedly “started freaking out and punching a television” after he and a group of friends went out to a bar the night of Friday, June 28, and returned to a residence in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue early Saturday morning, according to court documents.

“Toms was getting aggressive and out of control, so the women decided to take Toms’ girlfriend back to their residence,” witnesses reported.

After Toms allegedly “came outside and started hitting their car window, saying he wanted to talk to (his girlfriend),” the girlfriend went back into Toms’ apartment.  Toms then allegedly prevented her from leaving and then “tried to come at” a male with the group, according to court documents.

The man reported “he put Toms in a body restraint to prevent an assault,” then Toms allegedly “stabbed him with a butter knife in the forearm.”

Officers with the Centralia Police Department were dispatched to the scene at 3:42 a.m. on June 29, according to court documents and Centralia Police Department call logs.

When questioned, Toms allegedly “appeared to be intoxicated and admitted he was drunk and he was ‘still f—ing crazy,’” according to court documents. He reportedly tried to slip his handcuffs several times during his arrest.

Toms allegedly yelled at witnesses to “shut the f–k up” and threatened to beat them up once he was released, according to court documents.

When told he had just committed the crime of harassment, Toms allegedly “lowered his head and violently raised it up and backwards into (an officer’s) chest, just missing his chin as he was kneeling behind Toms,” according to court documents.

He was booked into the Lewis County Jail at 4:24 a.m. on June 29, according to jail records, and was charged Monday with one count each of third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, harassment and resisting arrest.

Bail is set at $25,000. Arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday, July 3.
