Nick A. Moe, 48, of Centralia, was charged Monday in Lewis County Superior Court with one count each of residential burglary, domestic violence; violation of a court order, domestic violence; and obstructing a law enforcement officer after he allegedly attempted to avoid arrest by fleeing from a second-story bedroom window.

In that endeavor, Moe was unsuccessful.

According to court documents, Centralia police arrived at a local apartment Sept. 13 to locate Moe for an outstanding arrest warrant. Moe had reportedly fled from the apartment the previous day.

After knocking and making requests for Moe to exit, officers allegedly heard the deadbolt lock and observed feet running away from the door. The officers forced the door open.

“Mr. Moe attempted to escape out of a second-story bedroom window when officers entered the home, causing Mr. Moe to land on his foot and injure it when he was prevented from jumping out of the window,” court documents stated.

Moe was first transported to the hospital for treatment for a fractured heel, according to the Centralia Police Department. He was then booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Moe’s wife was reportedly at the residence during the incident. An active pretrial domestic violence no-contact order prevents Moe from having contact with her and the residence until Aug. 11, 2030.

According to court documents, Moe has had 44 prior warrants issued and has “extensive misdemeanor history” that includes domestic violence assaults and a pending fourth-degree assault case.

Monday’s residential burglary charge carries the greatest maximum punishment of ten years in prison and $20,000 in fines. The other two charges are considered gross misdemeanors.

Moe appeared via video from the jail at a preliminary hearing Monday afternoon. He was seated in a wheelchair. The judge set Moe’s bail at $100,000 cash or bond.

Moe is scheduled for an arraignment on Sept. 18. Don Blair has been assigned to represent him.
