Bail is set at $25,000 for a Centralia man accused of assaulting a woman, trapping her inside a residence and trying to stop her from calling 911 on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Juvencio Ayala Rodriguez, 30, was arrested at the intersection of East Main and North Gold streets just before 10:25 p.m. on Sept. 27 after the victim called 911 to report she was “getting the sh-t beat out of her,” according to call logs and court documents.

Officers with the Centralia Police Department reportedly found Ayala Rodriguez in the area when they arrived at the scene the victim described. When questioned about the call from the victim, Ayala Rodriguez reportedly said “nothing was wrong and she was a liar,” according to court documents.

Ayala Rodriguez is accused of grabbing the woman and throwing her to the ground when she tried to leave a Centralia residence during an argument. He then allegedly punched her multiple times, squeezed her by the neck, and slapped a phone out of her hand when she tried to call 911. She was reportedly able to pick up the phone and call 911, at which point she tried to leave the residence again, but Ayala Rodriguez allegedly “prevented her from doing so by stepping in front of her and blocking the door.”

The woman reported Ayala Rodriguez kept her inside the residence until law enforcement personnel arrived about five minutes later, at which point Ayala Rodriguez left the property, according to court documents.

Officers noted the woman had visible injuries that were consistent with her statement.

When questioned again about the incident, Ayala Rodriguez “repeatedly said nothing happened,” according to court documents.

“An item believed to be methamphetamine” was reportedly found on his person when he was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to court documents.

Ayala Rodriguez was charged Thursday with one count each of domestic violence second- and fourth-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment, as well as one count each of interfering with domestic violence reporting and possession of a controlled substance.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 5.

A no-contact order protecting the victim is in place.
