A 25-year-old Centralia man was arrested Monday, Feb. 2, upon suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to the Centralia Police Department.

Brayan A. Orozco made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court the following day to face two counts of first- and second-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Both are considered Class B felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Orozco’s bail was set at $50,000. He indicated he may try to retain private counsel.

During the preliminary hearing, Judge Joely Yeager called the allegations “very concerning” and cited a threat to community safety as justification for the bail amount — despite the defendant not having any known felony history.

She added that defendants in these types of cases often don’t have criminal history. The judge also prohibited Orozco from going to any places where minor children are known to congregate while the case was pending.

According to a Feb. 4 news release from the Centralia Police Department, officers began investigating Orozco on Aug. 13, 2025, after receiving a report from a citizen claiming that CSAM had been seen on a family member’s phone.

Court documents indicate the family member was Orozco’s girlfriend.

According to the release, police later obtained and executed a search warrant at Orozco’s residence, where they reportedly seized multiple computers, storage devices and cellphones.

Collaborating with the FBI’s Northwest Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory, investigators allegedly located multiple videos containing CSAM.

On Feb. 2, a sexual assault nurse examiner reportedly confirmed that the victims seen in the videos were juvenile minors.

According to court documents, police contacted Orozco at his home that day, where he allegedly admitted to “knowingly and purposely downloading CSAM.”

Orozco remained in custody as of 1 p.m. Feb. 4, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear for an arraignment on Thursday, Feb. 5.

“The Centralia Police Department would like to thank the FBI’s Northwest Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory and the Providence/Monarch Abuse Intervention Center for their assistance in the investigation,” the department stated in its release.

Centralia police encouraged citizens to continue reporting information regarding suspected child exploitation to the department at 360-740-1105 or 911 for emergencies.
