The Centralia baseball team picked up its first win away from home on the season on Monday, taking down Aberdeen at Pioneer Park 9-7.
The Tigers trailed 2-1 through three innings, but a five-run fourth inning helped flip the game in their favor.
In that frame, Caden Erickson and Gabe Salazar hit RBI singles, Shawn Holmes hit an RBI double, and two other runs scored on a wild pitch and a groundout.
Two runs in the fifth and another in the seventh served as enough insurance for Kadin Yeung, who allowed just two runs in three and two-third innings in relief, and Holmes, who got the final out on the bump.
Salazar finished with two hits and drove in three runs, while Hudson Waterfield, Jamie Conzatti, Erickson, and Holmes also notched two hits each.
Yeung, Erickson, and Holmes tallied Centralia’s other RBIs, and both Yeung and Wyatt Van Der Hoeff tallied hits.
With the win, the Tigers (3-15, 2-11 2A EvCo) are now a game up on Black Hills for the EvCo’s fourth and final postseason spot, but the two teams still have one more game on Thursday, and the winner of that game will have the tiebreaker if the two teams finish tied in the standings.
Prior to that, Centralia and Aberdeen will face off again at Fort Borst Park on Tuesday.
