Roman Wagner, a 6-year-old Adna boy battling leukemia, will be the Centralia Police Department’s 2025 “Chief for a Day,” the department announced Tuesday.
Wagner will receive a tour of the police department and will be involved in events throughout the summer, which will culminate in the regional “Chief for a Day” celebration on Aug. 28 in Burien.
“Chief for a Day” honors the bravery, resilience and spirit of children living with chronic illnesses. The event provides families with a joyful and inclusive experience while fostering meaningful connections between the children and their sponsoring agencies.
Wagner, the son of Dr. Peter Wagner and Abbey Wagner, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2024.
Earlier this year, Centralia Police Chief Andy Caldwell credited officer Franklyn Ramos with the city being involved with the “Chief for a Day” program. Ramos was a chief for a day when he was 10 years old.
