The Centralia Police Department has officially welcomed its newest K9 unit — K9 Havik and handler officer Kyle Stockdale — to the department.

Havik, a German shepherd, is approximately 3 years old “and is an awesome addition to our department,” Centralia police said in a Facebook post.

The pair was certified as a K9 unit by the Washington state Police Canine Association and the Washington state Criminal Justice Training Commission on April 20 at the Spokane Police K9 Basic Handler School, according to the Centralia Police Department.

The Centralia Police Department K9 program is funded completely through public donations. K9 Association gear is available at https://centraliapdk9.itemorder.com/shop/home/ and donations are gladly accepted online or at the police station in Centralia.
