The Centralia Police Department’s annual “National Night Out” celebration is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at George Washington Park in Centralia.

“‘National Night Out’ is a community event that promotes police-community partnerships to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live,” the Centralia Police Department said in a news release. “It provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under favorable circumstances.”

A highlight of “National Night Out” is offering kids and families the chance to check out different kinds of patrol vehicles and talk to police from the Centralia Police Department, the Chehalis Police Department, the Napavine Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol and the Washington State Department of Corrections, according to a news release.

The free, family-friendly event will feature a bounce house, a dunk tank, a hot dog dinner, music by Live 95, giveaways and balloons.
