Staff members from the Centralia Public Works Department will begin flushing fire hydrants on Monday, Oct. 2, according to a news release from the city.

“The hydrant flushing process is preventative maintenance that takes place twice a year to bring fresh water through the lines,” the release stated. “During this process, the City of Centralia’s water is safe to drink.”

The entire hydrant flushing process should be completed in approximately three weeks while city staff make their way through Centralia’s hydrant system.
