Centralia secures first win of season, upends Tenino

Behind an eight-run bottom of the second inning, the Tigers broke through on Friday night and notched their first win of the spring, topping the Beavers 12-5 at Fort Borst Park. It’s also a season-high in runs.

Down by three early, Centralia (1-7) loaded the bases right away and Jamie Conzatti started the rally with a two-run single. Hudson Waterfield drew an RBI walk to put the Tigers in front for good, then Wyatt Van der Hoeff and Caden Erickson recorded back-to-back two-RBI singles.

Centralia tallied three more runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth. Erickson finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs while Van der Hoeff, Conzatti and Shawn Holmes all notched two runs batted in. Kadin Yeung struck out seven in four innings.

Tenino (1-6) was led by Carson Boad and Kellan Johnson both recording RBI doubles and Jude Leitch added two RBIs. Easton Miller drew two walks and also struck out three in a relief appearance.

The Beavers will head east over spring break and battle Medical Lake on Wednesday. Meanwhile for Centralia, it will battle Shelton on Saturday at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
