Centralia’s Immanuel Lutheran Church will formally welcome its new pastoral team, Pastor Jared Carson and Deacon Laura Carson, during their first worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.

The Carsons recently moved to Lewis County from West Fargo, North Dakota, to provide spiritual leadership for the congregation and build on the existing outreach ministries Immanuel Lutheran provides to the greater Centralia area, according to a news release from the church.

Jared and Laura bring a collaborative approach to ministry, combining pastoral care, teaching and diaconal service focused on community outreach and congregational life, according to the release.

Their arrival begins a new chapter for Immanuel Lutheran as the congregation marks its 115th year in Centralia and continues to serve the Twin Cities area.

"We are grateful for the warm Pacific Northwest welcome our family has received," the Carsons stated in the release. "We look forward to connecting with both the congregation and the wider Lewis County community as we worship, serve and grow together in faith."

The community is invited to attend the service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, followed by a welcome barbecue and fellowship gathering to meet Jared and Laura and their family.

There will be a formal installation service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, with Bishop Keith Marshall of the Southwestern Washington Synod, ELCA, presiding.

Immanuel Lutheran Church is located at 1209 N. Scheuber Road in Centralia.
