Reliable Enterprises continues advancing its long-range vision of creating stable housing opportunities for homeless families with the completion of seven additional homes, bringing the organization’s total to 30 housing units at Reliable Homes II, according to a news release from the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce.

The public is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon Wednesday, June 17, at 2213 Harrison Ave. in Centralia.

The event will include a tour of one of the homes, refreshments and an opportunity to learn more about the program and its impact on the community.

A total of $2.75 million in funds were provided for the project from the state Department of Commerce and Housing Trust Fund.

Reliable Enterprises provides 12 core services, including housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

According to Andy Skinner, executive director of Reliable Enterprises, the housing initiative fulfills a vision of creating affordable housing solutions that provide long-term stability for homeless families in the Centralia community.

“This program goes beyond simply providing housing,” Skinner said. “Families also receive financial counseling, life skills training, educational support and guidance from case workers to help them build a stable future.”

Reliable Enterprises works closely with the Centralia School District and Coastal CAP (Community Action Program) to identify families and meet the qualifications. Eligible families must already have children enrolled in the Centralia School District. Case management support continues while their children remain enrolled in the district.

“The program is designed to support families currently living in our community, and is not meant to attract people from outside the area,” added Skinner.

Participating families must have income or means to pay rent to ensure sustainability. Rental rates are below market rate rent and such that families can stabilize and work toward self-sustainability. In addition to housing for homeless families, Reliable Enterprises also offers housing opportunities and supportive services for veterans and individuals with disabilities. The organization additionally provides youth, educational and family support services.
